Cream Cheese Chocolate Apple Twists
Yields
- 10-12 twists
- Total time: 50 minutes
Ingredients
- All purpose flour for dusting
- 8oz. ready made puff pastry
- 2 dessert apples cored and chopped into small pieces, optional to leave the skin on
- 1 Tsp. stevia or 1 packet
- 3 tsp. water
- ¼ cup cream cheese
- 4 SkinnyMe chocolate squares (tempered)
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Sprinkle a little flour on a baking sheet (small amount since it will brown) or use a silk sheet.
Place apples, stevia and water in a small saucepan and heat until apples are softened, about 5 minutes.
Dust your counter or working surface with flour and roll out puff pastry into a large rectangle, about 7in. X 12in. Cut evenly into 8 squares. On each square cut into the center, only cutting half way.
Spread the cream cheese evenly between all 8 squares. Place the softened apples in the middle of the squares evenly and then top with the chopped chocolate.
To make the twist shape, bring the left hand side of each corner into the center. Secure the tips in the center by brushing them with a little of the egg. Repeat with the other corners, and then brush the entire pastry lightly with the egg.
Transfer pastry onto the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
These pastries are best served warm! Enjoy!
